"Genius and Youth" with Ymeo. Five concerts for emerging talent.

October 14, 2025

Organized by Maestro Paolo Olmi, the event will be held in Forlì starting from Sunday 19 October
Music as passion, vocation, and, above all, promise. This is the spirit of 'Genius and Youth,' a series organized by the Young Musicians European Orchestra (YME), conceived by Maestro Paolo Olmi, scheduled from October 19th to November 23rd in the Sangiorgi Hall of the Angelo Masini Foundation in Forlì. The program includes five events dedicated to young talent, all scheduled on Sunday mornings from 11:00 a.m. This series, as Olmi himself explains, stems from a clear idea: "Investing in the musicians themselves over time, accompanying them as they grow and enter the world of entertainment." A project, therefore, that goes beyond a showcase, becoming a journey dedicated to promising musicians. Made possible thanks in part to the support of the Municipality of Forlì, this year's season offers a journey through famous works from the orchestral solo repertoire, presented in elegant period piano transcriptions.
The festival will open on Sunday, October 19th with pianist Lorenzo Bovitutti performing a major undertaking: Anton Bruckner's monumental Symphony No. 9. On October 26th, it will be the turn of brothers Emiliano and Emanuele Gennari , violin and viola respectively, who will perform Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante K.364, accompanied on piano by Filippo Castelluzzo from Forlì. After the All Saints' Day break, on November 9th it will be the turn of Chinese cellist Haolong Chen and pianist Ludovico Falqui Massidda , with an entirely Romantic program: Schumann's Fantasiestücke and Adagio and Allegro op. 70, followed by Brahms's Sonata No. 1 op. 38. On November 16th, it will be the turn of the very young violinist Daniele Pini , already known to Forlì audiences thanks to masterclasses by Stefano Pagliani and the Scuola Italiana d'Archi. Accompanied by Falqui Massidda, he will tackle works of great virtuosity, from Tchaikovsky's Concerto Op. 35 to Franz Waxman's Carmen Fantasie. Closing the cycle on Sunday, November 23, will be pianist Daniele Lasta , with an extraordinarily intense program: Mozart's Sonata K. 333, Schumann's Sonata in F major Op. 14 No. 3, and the Tragic Sonata Op. 39 No. 5 by Nikolai Medtner, a refined contemporary of Rachmaninov.
After the autumn festival, the most anticipated event has been announced: the 'Christmas Concert' , which will be held on December 9th at the Abbey of San Mercuriale. On the podium will be the Orchestra's new artistic director, Sancho Almendral , a thirty-year-old Spaniard who has already brought enthusiasm and renewed energy to the group. The program includes Tchaikovsky's Meditation, Wieniawski's Variations on an Original Theme, Op. 15, and Mozart's celebrated Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, with the participation of violinist Mattia Pagliani . "It's very stimulating," comments Forlì's Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Culture, Vincenzo Bongiorno , "to contribute to the realization of a project founded on trust in young people, respecting their time and talents, while also achieving the important result of making classical music accessible to all at an affordable price." Tickets, costing a nominal €2, are available on Vivaticket or on the morning of the concert (starting at 10:00 a.m.) at the Sala Sangiorgi. For information: [email protected].
